Classy and Sexy Lingerie

Can Lingerie be Both Classy and Sexy? Absolutely!

Are you tired of trying to find some sexy and classy lingerie, and seeing nothing but items that look like they were designed by Snooki from Jersey Shore? For a more sophisticated but still very sexy image, consider going retro in your lingerie selections. Think of the looks from 1940s and 1950s pinups, Bettie Page, and TV's Mad Men for inspiration.

The last few years have seen a resurgence of a more classy and sexy lingerie style, that takes its cues from mid-century designs and burlesque fashions. The retro look is a great one for the “grown and sexy” woman who knows the power of tease and suggestion.  My favorite place to find these luxurious fashions is Secrets in Lace.  There selection of full fashion stockings and other vintage inspired lingerie is unbeatable.

Panties
Bikini underwear, thongs and g-strings still abound, but a look growing in popularity are panties that ride a little higher on the waist and lower on the legs. Usually labeled as boyshorts or hipsters, they have several advantages over the skimpy panties, besides the coverage and comfort level. They emphasize and shape the behind, and are a great way to show off your booty. The “rhumba panties” style has rows of ruffles across the backside, adding further emphasis and a saucy can-can dancer style. And they can have garters attached so you can combine with stockings.

Bras
Satin, lace, and silk, as always, are the go-to fabrics and trims for beautiful and sexy bras. While the “stripper” look emphasizes showing everything, with 1/4 cup bras or even just harnesses, the sophisticated look teases by framing and lifting the breasts, allowing for plenty of cleavage without the full view. Translucent fabrics are a popular choice, allowing for glimpses of what awaits under the bra without putting everything out there!

Corsets and Bustiers
Corsets and bustiers are a very classy and sexy lingerie look. Ranging from long-line style bras to full coverage corsets to underbust corsets and waist cinchers, corsets and bustiers shape your curves, defining your waist while emphasizing your curves. If you already have an hourglass figure, corsets show it off; and if you don’t have that hourglass, a corset can redistribute your curves so you do. Opt for retro style corsets in fabric and lace, and look for steel or plastic boning in the construction.

Stockings
Old-fashioned stockings have made a comeback in recent years, and are extremely sexy. Elastic thigh-high stockings may still have their place in terms of convenience, but for sophistication, nothing looks as good as a stocking and garter combo, especially when added to an overall look with a corset or bra and panty ensemble. In stockings themselves, look for vintage styling such as back seams and Cuban heels that emphasize the shapeliness of your legs and ankles.

Pajamas and Loungewear
There is a time and place for cozy comfy pajamas, but when your plans include the opposite of sleeping, a chemise of silk and satin is the way to go. Look for lace and ribbon trims that lend a delicacy to the style. Another option is the peignoir set, which can be short or floor length, and consist of a gown and light, translucent robe. Combine a peignoir set with kitten-heel slippers trimmed in marabou, and you’ll feel like a star from a 1940s movie!
