Classy Makeup Styles

With so many makeup styles to choose from, it may be difficult to know which one is appropriate for your facial structure, shape. skin tone and age. No matter the choice, any makeup style can be made into a neat and classy look with a few simple and timeless tips and tricks.
For the younger woman, less is often best. Younger skin is usually tighter and, although blemishes in younger skin are more prevalent than in more mature women, most young women can create a fresh, classy look with minor makeup applications no matter the complexion. Lighter eye shadow colors in a powder have always been the staple in most young women’s vanities. Light blues, pinks and corals are best for those with a lighter skin tone and hair color, while deeper tones in bronzes or browns with hints of purple or blue are appropriate for darker skin tones.
Assorted cheek colors or blushes should be kept in neutral tones and brushed lightly using a powder and brush application along the apple of the cheek and below, using a darker tone to define the cheek bone. Liquid or cream cheek colors may also be used when creating a classy look if blended into a neutral foundation along the apple of the check and not below. For definition below the apple of the cheek, when using a liquid cheek color, use a deeper shade of foundation under the cheek bone instead of a stronger or deeper blush. Cream and liquid blush colors tend to be stronger than powder applications and therefore, for a classy style, they should be used sparingly on the younger face.
Since the skin around younger eyes is often free from wrinkles or creases, little concealer is needed and should be kept to a bare minimum. Eyeliner for a classy look requires a shade appropriate for skin tone and eye shape. For younger eyes, a lighter shade drawn only on the lower lid beneath the lash line will create a classic look to open and define the eye. This same rule applies to mascara. A lighter tone in brown or a brown-black shade should be used on the younger eye. While mascara can be applied to both the upper and lower lashes, younger women looking for a classy style should use all mascara applications sparingly and neatly.
Classy makeup styles include neatly applied lip color. For the younger woman, a lighter lip shade or tone only slightly brighter than the natural skin color should be applied using a lip brush. A lip liner should be used on the inner line of the upper and lower lip using a color slightly darker than the overall lip color. This will provide definition of the lips while not overpowering the look.
Older women have more options for obtaining a classy makeup style but should also be careful not to confuse a dramatic look with a classy one. Too much makeup, or makeup applied in bright colors or heavy coats can make the older woman appear tired and can accentuate wrinkles, creases or dark areas which occur naturally as skin ages.
For a classy makeup style, older ladies should use liquid foundations and concealers prior to full applications of blush, eye and lip treatments. Use a concealer only slightly lighter than the foundation and blend thoroughly to hide dark areas and wrinkles. Apply foundation all over the face including eyelids, and blend well under the jaw line to avoid an artificial look.
For a classy, more mature style, use darker tones of shadow, blush and lip color. Eye shadows in deep shades can be used on the lids while darker shades should be applied in the center lid and a lighter shade under the brow. Accentuate the eyes with liner. Begin a narrow line at the inside corner of the eye and wider at the outside, applying color under the lash line only. While those with small eyes may apply liner to both upper and lower lash lines, most women should use liner only on their bottom lash line. A deep toned blush applied on the apple of the cheek and another complementary tone applied along the cheek bone will frame the face. Lips should be lined using a deep shade of color which complements the lipstick. Avoid liquid lip liners since they can cause the color to run into small wrinkles sometimes apparent on older women.
A neat application and proper color choice will always make for a classy makeup style.
